NCNU impetus for social progress and development

“Strengthening local connection” was the NCNU goal of educational features and cultivating talents for more than 20 years since 921 earthquake. Concatenated each of local topics via teaching as learning places for students, which was the important goal of education and cultivating talents, from reconstructing the communities to the entire Shui Sha Lian area.

NCNU published the primary edition of this report in the year of 2022 based on GRI criteria as well as responded to UN’s “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” and NCNU three sustainable perspectives of University governance, Sustainable environment, and Social responsibility, which demonstrated NCNU social influence and specific performance.

NCNU final income increased gradually from 1.133 billion to 1.413 billion in the past 11 years (2021-2022) in spite of sub-replacement fertility. Several subjects scored near top 100 universities in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 (Impact Rankings). Reputation was well-recognized internationally after being ranked top 6 universities domestically in regard to total number of 596 overseas students, which exceeded over 10% in 111th academic year. According to the University Citizen Survey published by CommonWealth Magazine, NCNU was ranked top one from general universities under 6,000 students. Ministry of Education subsidized the Higher Education SPROUT Project from 2018-2022 and 2nd phase of University Social Responsibility Practice Project from 2020-2022. Seven universities signed the joint dual-degree and partnered over 160 foreign universities from over 10 foreign countries as a result of promoting internationalization.

We continued to cultivate more students with global view and act locally to contribute the social progress and development in future.
